That Word Disparage

This segment of my blog is inspired by Victoria Grace Howell Word definition that we get as part of her weekly Writerly Bundles and by me when I come across words I have a vague sense of the meaning but not a complete sense of the word.

I often come upon words that I either haven't heard of before I can't remember the meaning. These posts are for those words and in hopes of helping others remember the meanings and introduce them to words they may not know.

Our next word is...

Disparage

Where I Found It

I think this another case of having seen the word and realised I liked the sound of it. It really could have been from anywhere. Most likely some kind of book.

Defintion/s

1. to speak of or treat slightingly; depreciate; belittle:2. to bring reproach or discredit upon; lower the estimation of:

An Example Sentence

They easily disparaged the image my father had created of himself.

My Thoughts

It seems with all my words I like how they sound and while I do like how this one sounds I don't think it is a major factor in me liking this words. Though I do still love the way the word finishes with that g sound I also like the meaning. I can't say that I have really used this word before but I certainly would like to because I believe it describes quite well of the actions of belittling or discrediting something like say a person. It is likely that I will use this in my writing.

What Do You Think? Do You Like This Word?
